One Hundred Views of Life — Akira Nanjo Coral Exhibition 2026

“One Hundred Views of Life — Akira Nanjo Coral Exhibition 2026: A Coral's Wish of Ten Thousand Years ~ Inheriting the Memory of Coral ~”, by the photographer Akira Nanjo, opens at the 2F Gallery of Hotel Emerald Isle Ishigakijima. This year's theme is “Coral: Inheriting Memory”.

[ About the exhibition ]

Coral as it lives now, the relationship between people and coral, the traces left in the land, and the coral that remains in people's memory. Through photographs and documents, past and present are set side by side.

In Yaeyama, coral reefs have long sustained daily life and culture. Following the memories of people who have worked with coral for many years, the exhibition is an occasion to look again at the time coral has travelled and at what it is worth.
